COVID 19 Update

18th March 2020

To protect our patients and staff, from Tuesday 17th March all GP appointments at Springwood Surgery will initially be telephone appointments with a clinician rather than face-to-face. You will be given a face to face appointment ONLY if the clinician feels you need to be seen in person. This includes any appointments you may already have booked. If you do come to the surgery, please take care not to arrive too early. Thankyou.

For the latest Covid-19 advice please visit Coronavirus advice: if you have a new persistent cough or a high temperature, please stay at home for 7 days. Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. If symptoms are serious, or get worse, visit the NHS111 online service.

Surgery Closure

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you have returned from these specific areas in the past 14 days or have been in contact with somebody who has already had a confirmed case of Coronavirus, and you have a cough, fever or shortness of breath please do not attempt to come to the surgery or book an appointment online, but instead immediately stay indoors and call NHS111.

Blister Packs

4th November 2019

Redcar and Cleveland Council recycle blister packs from medication in their blue bins. Please make use of this service rather than letting them go to land fill.

Carers Appointments

15th October 2019

Springwood Surgery is pleased to be able to inform our patients that starting from Thursday 14th November and each Thursday from then on a member of the Carers Together Team will be attending the surgery and we will be able to book appointments with them.

If you are a Carer and need advice or support please contact our Reception Team and they will book you an appointment, you will need to complete a Referral Form which can be downloaded below or pick one up from the Reception Team. Please bring the referral with you to your first appointment.

The car parking at the surgery site is now monitored and you may be liable to a parking fine if your car is parked for longer than the allotted time.

The rear car park is for staff only and anyone parking there will incur a parking fine if their registration number is not cleared by the surgery.

The front car park will have a 1 hour 30 minute restriction on it and any cars parked for longer than this period will incur a parking fine.

The Great North Care Record

23rd February 2017

All patients registered with a GP Practice in England have a basic Summary Care Record (unless you have opted out). This record shows the following information about your health:

  • Medicines you are taking
  • Allergies
  • Bad reactions to medications

All patients (apart from the patients that have opted out of the basic summary care record) will be given a Great North Care Record. This will allow Hospitals, Ambulance Service, Mental Health Service, Out of Hours Service and Urgent Care to see medical information about you such as:

  • Medical Conditions
  • Medication
  • Operations and Treatment
  • Tests and Results
  • Contact details for your next of Kin

If you want to Opt-Out of having a Great North Care Record please ask a member of the Reception Team for an Opt-Out Form, complete it and return it to the reception team.

Please Note: If you decide to Opt-Out of the Great North Care Record your medical record will not be shared with the scheme but it will not be shared with any Local Community Services or the Out of Hours Service too.

Additional Information

23rd February 2017

You can now add the option to share Additional Information to your Summary Care Record if you have one. This will enable services such as, Clinicians, Hospitals, District Nurses, Physiotherapy and the Out of Hours Service to view additional information about you. The Information they will see will be:

Long term health conditions
Heart Problems
Rare medical conditions

Relevant Information
Clinical Procedures
Why you need a certain type of medication
The care you are currently receiving

Healthcare needs
Communication needs
Long-term conditions
Legal decisions about your care

Vaccination details

If you would like to add the option to allow addition information to be added to your Summary Care Record please ask for an “Opt-In” Form from reception. You will need to complete it and return it to the reception team.
